Feeding Program
No child should have to learn on an empty stomach. At Mathare Community Outreach (MCO), we believe that access to nutritious food is a basic right and a foundation for a brighter future. That’s why we run a Feeding Program to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children in our care not only survive, but thrive.
Why It Matters
In the informal settlements of Nairobi, food insecurity is a daily struggle for many families. Without proper nutrition, children face stunted growth, poor health, and difficulty concentrating in school. Our Feeding Program bridges this gap by providing regular meals that support children’s physical growth, academic performance, and emotional well-being.
Who We Support
The program currently serves:
- Children in our community schools in Mathare and Kariobangi.
- Residents of theKariobangi Children’s Home.
- Sponsored children in secondary schools and a few pursuing tertiary education.
For many, these meals are the most reliable source of nutrition they receive in a day—restoring hope and dignity to children who would otherwise go hungry.
Beyond Food
The Feeding Program is more than just meals—it is part of our holistic approach to child care. By combining food support with education, shelter, counseling, and discipleship, we are raising strong, healthy, and confident children who are prepared to pursue their dreams.
How You Can Help
Keeping this program running requires constant support. The need for food supplies is ongoing: maize, beans, rice, vegetables, cooking oil, porridge flour, and sugar are always in demand.
