The following are the programs we run in all the centres

Feeding Program

  • MCO has a feeding program for children in Mathare and Kariobangi. All children in the schools and the children's home are provided with two meals a day (breakfast and lunch) from Monday to Friday. Some of the students (sponsored by compassion international) are provided with meals on Saturdays.
  • It's hoped that as communities are empowered, they will begin subsiding the feeding program.

Child Support

  • MCO provides support to orphans and vulnerable children through child sponsorship, feeding program and childrens home located in Kariobangi in Nairobi and Maseno in Nyanza. It also provides support to children in secondary schools, and some who are pursuing post-secondary (tertiary) education.
  • Home-based care for PLWHAS whereby we distribute food and provide couselling services

Child sponsorship

  • The program currently provides sponsorship to 600 children in kindergarten and primary school, 238 in secondary school, and 6 in tertiary colleges pursuing courses at certificate and diploma levels. There are two students who are oursuing undergraduate studies in local universities. There are students who will join university next year (2011).This greatly motivates the ones remaining to even work harder as everything is possible

  • Rehabilitation

  • The children are rehabilitated from the traumatised life intto family life of the home. The children are also taken to their communities to help the know and identif y with their clans once a year.
  • The Feeding program has been very successful in addressing malnutrition in the area in the early stages

  • The children have provided an entry point for MCO to provide home based care to parents and guardians who are affected by HIV/AIDS

  • A major challenge in all the schools is lack of infrastructure and facilities that create an enabling learning environment for pupils/students.
