
•The programme has promoted education whereby thousands of children have received both basic education at elementary level, secondary education and joined middle level colleges and university. Currently 10 children are pursuing different courses at the university. Two beneficiaries graduated and work in the USA.
• The institution runs three primary schools and one secondary school fully attended by the children in the slum. A scholarship programme currently caters for over 35 studies pursuing diploma courses in different fields.
• Community relationship has been retained and has taken ownership of the project. They protect the project property whenever fights broke out in within the slums.
• The infrastructure has been greatly improved. Permanent structures have been put up to house the schools which are more environments friendly.
• Creation of employment opportunities for the community members who work in the project directly and indirectly. Others have gained employment after professional trainings e.g. accountancy.
• Behavior Change communication evidenced in reduced cases of pregnancies among girls, cases of criminal activities like muggings, housebreaking etc. A number of youth have also given their lives to the Lord and actively serves in the church.
• Promotion of Christian values and Faith among the children, youth and the adults through Vocational Bible School, spiritual camps, Mission and Discipleship programme for out of school which so have seen 52 youth graduate since year 2009. The take responsibilities in church and does door to door outreach.
• Network and collaboration with other NGOs, the government and other stakeholders to achieve its goals
• Running a Children's home offering shelter, feeding as well as education to highly vulnerable children and orphans.
• Successfully reintegrated 11 children from the Children's center back to their families the end of the year 2013.
• Economic empowerment to the communities especially the widows, who underwent skills training in Tailoring and dressmaking, issued with sewing machines and now run their own business. This has also addressed self sustainability. Guardians and parents of children at the home were also trained in business and given grants to boost their business.
• Encouraged Community social give back among the alumni who have come back to volunteer in the project to offer services.
• The organization has in the year 2013 the now successfully initiated a seven month programme in Discipleship, personal management,Lifeskill,leadership and basic bible/theology training programme to cater for beneficiaries who finished form four from Mathare slums and others. The project is located in Maseno in Kisumu County. 24 pioneer disciples have since graduated and serving in various churches.
Mathare valley is a collection of 3 villages – No. 10, Mathare 4A and Mathare 4B – with an estimated population of 750,000
HIV/AIDS is amajor issue with high infection rates in the area.
Over 90% of the household are headed by single women, many of whom have been in abusive relationships.
